A love for music was cultivated in me from conception. That love has harvested an obsession, an addiction that I just can't quit. From the moment I could hold a pen, I can remember writing songs with my dad; composing melodies with him and brainstorming ideas. I would wake up late at night, and he'd be in the living room writing, singing, and altering his clothes to fit his individuality. Like most children, I remember wanting to be like him, and wanting to create something that would make him proud. Creation was our connection, especially through music. Since then, music and its cousin poetry have been my means of connecting with the world and conveying my beliefs. Music has and always will be my motivator, my comforter, my hype-man, my confidant, my psychologist, my professor, the one that truly understands me. I'm not selfish though, I want to share music with the world. I understand that music can embody everything, for everybody. Music is one of the universal constants that crosses all boundaries. So let's get connected.

I am a current student at the Univeristy of Colorado at Denver for Music Business/Recording Arts. I love music, and everything that comes with it! Live theatre was what first introduced me to the entertainment world and music. Since I was eight years old I have participated in over 20 productions. From acting to technical aspects, I love live shows. It is this passion that I use to push myself to one day own a venue.

I'm a 19 year old singer and songwriter for a sh*tty garage band, frequent concert attender, and recent Denver local. My love for local artists is comparable to my love of cake- and I really, really f*cking love cake. Major fan of any genre, and especially anything with a banjo or a funky bass.

I spend most of my days sitting on my...ash grey office chair reading emails and trying to figure out how to reply to them. I'm not much of a writer, but I'm one hell of a typer. I like to figure out how to do things better and faster and on my own. I really enjoy helping people who aren't afraid to help themselves. I'm still fascinated by tractors as much as I was when I was a kid. I can't believe you're actually reading this. I'm still amazed that God let me be born in Colorado; I love this place! I tried making music once, but I sucked so I figured I might as well help those who don't.
Jamie Cooksie
Contributor Originally from Dallas, Texas, I found myself falling into the Hip Hop scene at a young age. I grew up in the times of MTV’s TRL and BET’s 106 and Park. My love for music became so intense that I even joined my school’s band and earned myself a spot in our varsity choir. During this time I discovered my love for writing. Writing then became my creative outlet allowing me to express myself through words. There is no better way to find self-fulfillment then to be able to combine two things that I really love, Hip Hop and writing. That is what brings me here today. I now find myself in the position to meet everything from mainstream artist to those who are just breaking into the scene. Follow me on Twitter@ CritiqueHipHop

Staff Writer info:
Jonathon is currently a misanthropic elitist who recently moved out of his parent’s basement at age 30 (Yay)… He is balding with ferocious speed and has gained 10 pounds in the last 10 days due to “emotional eating”. Among other great god given talents; he is a self-appointed expert on music, literature, art, social/cultural/political commentary, and film. Some nice people at Mile Hi Music caught wind of his lies and graciously/shockingly selected him to write some articles for them. Jonathon hopes his writing will give him the appearance of being “deep” in aims of getting young, artsy, indie chicks to make-out with him at bars while he pompously blabs on and on about how he is a “true journalist” and why everyone should really care about his opinions. Jonathon finds writing about things a bit difficult because most music/art/literature/culture/film he finds to be complete garbage… However, he is up for the challenge and is thankful for the opportunity!Jonathon will most likely be intoxicated while writing his articles. You will notice most of his articles reek of self-importance and lack any real substance, direction, or context. He also drinks for other emotional/personal reasons he would rather not get into right now. Jonathon apologizes for his maudlin behavior and, much like his sex life, the general dissatisfaction you will all experience after reading his “work”.Enjoy! For terrible reviews on classic literature, please visit him here:https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3079518-jonathonFollow him on twitter.com, he rarely uses it because he hates it…
