My Ambition

My life means more than my cans and can’ts, more than money and fame, more than the names stitched on my shirt or pants, worn by people all the same.

My life means more to me than yours does to you, not to say mine is worth more, but if you loved your existence as I do mine, then why do you allow what happens to you?

Young man, these people will take everything you have. Even your so called brothers will take the last piece of bread out of your hand, then throw you on the ground, laugh at your embarrassment and inequities while eating your last. Your back scarred with thousands of years of Egyptian and Caucasian whips, your mind tainted with delusional illusions of grandeur when a negro male making it past 35 and not in jail is as rare as a white man that gives a damn. Young man, you are not free from slavery. You may not have the chains, picking cotton in the fields but what are the clothes you tirelessly work, grind, and hustle for made of? Young man, your mind is not free. Listen to me! They tell you that you can be anything, then tell you few are chosen, then tell you be all that you can be. Young man, they want you to work for them, that’s why the military are the only ones saying those facetious encouraging affirmations. Don’t lose yourself in the tyranny that is pop culture, because when you die you’re just another body, and even your Mavado watch can’t stop the time of your judgment day. So go…break your scarred back for your fancy things, but know, when God asks what you’ve done in His name, the Armani suit you were buried in won’t mean a damn thing!

Young lady…my heart bleeds for you. You’ve been tossed around like a rag doll for too long. Your father was never there to show you the difference between a man of God and a man of the world, so you’re tricked by his sparkling smile, fancy garments, and a ride as smooth as his slicked hair. His words melodies to your senses chimes while he whispers what seems to be sweet nothings but are daggers disguised as friendlies. You hesitate allowing him access to your beloved temple, and as he enters your sacred place, you realize how wrong this is but it’s too late…every stroke is unbearable, and his panting irrevocably is deafening. His eyes are no longer the soft hazel they were before. Young lady, you’ve been tricked for too long. You stay jumping from male to male desperately seeking approval from them, to replace the male that was never there. He left you…that’s why when your partner has climaxed you cry tears of abandonment, tears of years wasted on men that are similar to the father you never had in that they all leave you…they never loved you. Young lady, you’ve settled for dissatisfaction for too long…you don’t need anyone when you love yourself.

My people are dying in front of my eyes. My life means more to me than yours does to you…and I’m praying to God to find out what I can say or do for this to no longer be true.

I’m praying for you.

A Requiem to You Love.

I picture you sometimes and wonder how it could of been.

If maybe only everything about our circumstances was different.

See really thats the only thing that ruined us…circumstances.

I couldn’t alter the fact that you were broken when I met you.

Beautifully jagged and seductively tragic…I was sucked into your sinkhole.

But it wasn’t all you…I had cracks in my construction too, and thats probably why we were so attracted.

Except the collection of our fragments…didn’t connect to create one cohesive piece.

Leaving us painfully disfunctional…leading to our beautiful decease.

But I will say this….our love was a beast.

Magnetic and powerful in a spontaneously combustible way.

So unpredictable.

One minute were smitten sittin’ comfortable…

And the next instant we seem to be the author of each others problems.

This is where it gets ironic and demented…because we were the only ones who could solve them.

Every emotional bruise you inflicted, could only be healed with your attention, and always always…

The, “I hate you I wish you would die.”…metamorphosed into “I love you and I never meant to make you cry.”

But still we continued to lie.

Not just lies that fractured our trust like, “Don’t trip, thats just a friend.”

But lies about the nature of us, like how we were so opposite, and not in the complimentary way.

More like, our incompatibility is causing contemptment to flourish.

The resentment was leaving our love malnurished.

Because I…gave you all the parts of me, parts I never knew existed.

Then you went and did some b*t$h s%i#…cuz insecurity had you twisted.

Maybe you thought…you would hurt me before I could hurt you.

But that was never my intention.

Even when you annoyed me to my wits end.

Your smile was more than sufficient incentive.

I would of…been everything that you could ever need.

If you would have matched my loyalty.

But no amount of denial could diminish the facts.

Our cons outweighed our pros, and I wish I could go back…

Cover our tracks and meet you in another lifetime, where we would be a positive match.

Still, I picture you sometimes.

And in my mind you have that glimmer in your eyes that initially captured me.

And I remember that we used to write poetry together.

How you enhanced my creativity and encouraged me.

You saw into the internal me…crept deep inside.

Cradled the soft parts I usually hide.

That made me vulnerable…which is the most terrifying emotion I am capable of possessing.

Which had me up late nights obsessing.

About your touch…

About your lips…

About how much I really missed…just talking to you.

Like you actually listened, not just waited until I was through…

With what I was saying so we could go back to talking about you.

Thats what gets you addicted to a person.

The little things that give a love endurance.

Like random moments of passion that gave me reassurance.

That I had things locked down…cuffed without restraints.

I never had complaints…and neither did you.

Somehow all our fire sparked a fuse…

Igniting heated disputes.

And now…all of that tenderness has been incinerated.

And all that compassion has turned to indignation.

I guess our adoration had an expiration.

When love dies…for awhile things are complicated.

Because no one wants to lose that intense sensation.

That vibrant thing that brings illumination to all the darkness.

Love addicts…we’d go back for another fix.

Even though the high will never be the same…

After so much abuse…

Our love just didnt hit the way it use to.

Instead of going for another injection.

We just walked away

And left our love…

Not so Peacefully resting.

Different

I’m homesick, my bodies a tent. Heavens supposed to be where home is. I guess it’s safe to say God’s people are homeless. And I don’t know what happened to my former world. I can no longer approach a beautiful girl and tell her, “You seem very classy. And if your personality was anything like the way you look, then we should at least be friends.” without her thinking 5000 steps ahead to an imaginary time where I’ll cheat on her, causing nothing but heartbreak. So she sucks her teeth at me, smirks, and walks off, thinking all men are dogs.

And I wanna catch up to her to say, I’m sorry to burst this bubble for you love, but not all men are dogs. While most are scheming of ways on how they can gaze at only the TOP of your head…I’d rather find a way to get you to open the keys to your mind up even though your name is all you said. We’re not all dogs. But if, and only if, we were all dogs, then I’m sorry love, you would unfortunately be considered a female dog…and I’ll leave it at that.

I’m tired of this constant battle between us men at my age trying to prove we’re not all the same while most women at the same age dressing like they crave AIDS continue calling each other bitches, sluts, or hoes like it’s a synonym for their real names. Us good men have minds that stay wondering of ways to improve your days on this world that is slowly passing away so what’s left to say other than…

We are not all the same. But don’t get me wrong, some men are monogamously challenged, and your attempts to domesticate a wild dog is as pointless as telling two deaf kids to play Marco Polo. So this poem might go to deaf ears, but hopefully the one’s able to hear will take heed to Morpheus’ line to free your mind, and stop wasting time to bitch and whine and understand us real men are out here on our grind, so who are you to say we are all the same?

This isn’t the world I was meant to be in.

So I’m homesick, my bodies a tent, Heavens supposed to be where home is. I guess it’s safe to say God’s people and us good men are homeless.

We Want Iggy! She’s Soo Deadly…

Iggy Azalea to be exact.

So we’ve been hearing this name Iggy floating around Twitter lately, mainly from the guys. And after watching her videos and hearing her flow, we can see why. Obviously we wanted to find out some more about her, so we started combing the internet and this is what we found.  Iggy Azalea was born Amethyst [No last name given] in New South Wales, Australia to a father who was an artist and a mother who worked in hospitality. Her father as you will find out was a huge influence on her life, thus the title of her latest mixtape “Ignorant Art”. Iggy started rapping at the age of 14 and like most girls was obssessed with Tupac.

Now the interesting stuff.

If you’re wondering where the heck she got the stage name Iggy from, well it was the name of  her childhood pet dog. But who cares? It works.  And if you’re wondering where the heck she came from, you should thank YouTube (The innovative video sharing website that would have never been created if the Senate and House bills SOPA and PIPA had been in place during its inception). In 2011 Iggy went viral, like most of our famous people do now a days. Her videos were of her freestyling to whatever beat she got her hands on. The most famous of which was her promo video titled “Pu$$y”, which caught the attention of Perez Hilton, who we guess made her even more popular. On September 27, 2011, Azalea released her first free mixtape, “Ignorant Art”(#NP). She has yet to be signed but plans on dropping her debut album titled “The New Classic” before summer 2012.

Our Thoughts

After watching three of her latest Youtube videos(My World, The Last Song, D.R.U.G.S) we fell in love. There’s something about Iggy we as men just don’t get from Nicki or Trina. It could possibly be her femme fatale swag that pokes at our curiosity and pulls us in only to keep us hooked. Or maybe it’s the fact that she can rap and she looks good doing it. Who knows? What we do know is that we like her and as much as we want to see more of her, we know the consequences of going mainstream. The last thing anybody would want is for record label execs to water her down. So for now the replay button on her Youtube videos will have to suffice. And as for our readers, we suggest you take two minutes and watch the video below. Oh and fellas, it’s against code to willingly listen to Nicki on the way to work, but Iggy…well, that’s a whole different story. Enjoy…

In Protest Of Anti-Piracy Bill

In Protest Of Anti-Piracy Bill, Wikipedia To Go Dark

by ©THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

January 16, 2012

Wikipedia will black out the English language version of its website Wednesday to protest anti-piracy legislation under consideration in Congress, the foundation behind the popular community-based online encyclopedia said in a statement Monday night.

The website will go dark for 24 hours in an unprecedented move that brings added muscle to a growing base of critics of the legislation. Wikipedia is considered one of the Internet’s most popular websites, with millions of visitors daily.

“If passed, this legislation will harm the free and open Internet and bring about new tools for censorship of international websites inside the United States,” the Wikimedia foundation said.

The Stop Online Piracy Act in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Protect Intellectual Property Act under consideration in the Senate are designed to crack down on sales of pirated U.S. products overseas.

Supporters include the film and music industry, which often sees its products sold illegally. They say the legislation is needed to protect intellectual property and jobs.

Critics say the legislation could hurt the technology industry and infringe on free-speech rights. Among their concerns are provisions that would weaken cyber-security for companies and hinder domain access rights.

The most controversial provision is in the House bill, which would have enabled federal authorities to “blacklist” sites that are alleged to distribute pirated content. That would essentially cut off portions of the Internet to all U.S. users. But congressional leaders appear to be backing off this provision.

Tech companies such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter, eBay, AOL and others have spoken out against the legislation and said it threatens the industry’s livelihood. Several online communities such as Reddit, Boing Boing and others have announced plans to go dark in protest as well.

The Obama administration also raised concerns about the legislation over the weekend and said it will work with Congress on legislation to help battle piracy and counterfeiting while defending free expression, privacy, security and innovation in the Internet.

Wikipedia’s decision to go dark brings the issue into a much brighter spotlight. A group of Wikipedia users have discussed for more than a month whether it should react to the legislation.

Over the past few days, a group of more than 1,800 volunteers who work on the site and other users considered several forms of online protest, including banner ads and a global blackout of the site, the foundation said. Ultimately, the group supported the decision to black out the English version of the site.

Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia who first announced the move on his Twitter account Monday, said the bills are a threat to the free, open, and secure web.

“The whole thing is just a poorly designed mess,” Wales said in an email to The Associated Press.

Wikipedia is also requesting that readers contact members of Congress about the bill during the blackout.

“I am personally asking everyone who cares about freedom and openness on the Internet to contact their Senators and Representative,” Wales said. “One of the things we have learned recently during the Arab Spring events is that the Internet is a powerfully effective tool for the public to organize and have their voices heard.”

Wikipedia will shut down access from midnight Eastern Standard Time (0500 GMT) on Tuesday night until midnight Wednesday.

This is the first time Wikipedia’s English version has gone dark. Its Italian site came down once briefly in protest to an Internet censorship bill put forward by the Berlusconi government; the bill did not advance.

“Wikipedia is about being open,” said Jay Walsh, spokesman for the Wikimedia foundation. “We are not about shutting down and protesting. It’s not a muscle that is normally flexed.”
